how many hours do i need to work?

how many hours to be able to claim childcare costs?

i went to my old place of work (used to be safeway, now morrisons but some of the old staff still there) and enquired about jobs, was a bit put off at how busy the place was, and it did overwhealm me a bit, but general feeling was they would employ me again.

not sure if its taking a step back though.

maybe look into it after the other job application is done, if i dont get the one i have set my heart on.

it is supposed to be working over 30hrs a week but earning under £15000 a year. Childcare I am not actually sure how they work it out but if peter is still receiving DLA at the min then they willpay around 3/4 of the cost. Just phone them to ask as they are usually pretty helpful on the phone and if you ask will leave a note on your file about the enquiries.

mmm not sure..I think they work out childcare over the year as we were asked for per week costs.

posieflump · 01/03/2008 21:11

I think if you put all the figures in the inland revenue site it calculates what you are entitled too

misdee · 01/03/2008 21:13

hmmm would be guessing though especially as the one thats 25hours i didnt ask how muchy the wages were

am also so used to getting money weekly, i think monthly wages are going to confuse me for a while

It's for parents that work more than 16 hours a week and there's a bit extra if you work more than 30 hours. Childcare gets paid if both parents work more than 16 hours, must be approved childcare and they cover 85% up to £130 a week. You get paid this money weekly with the tax credits. The amount you recieve is corrolated with your earnings and any earnings your partner has. There are different rules for disabled parents so someone with more knowledge may come along in a bit.

thanks.

i went on that entitled.com earlier, and i think it figured it out that we would be about £30 a week better off.

so not too bad.

its the childcare bit that worries me, as not sure dh can do full-time childcare on his own just yet.

For help with childcare costs, see WTC5 which explains about the childcare element of Working Tax Credit.

Phone them up and they'll tell you.
