Landline impact on credit score?

Does anyone here work in credit risk and could advise how important having a landline is on the credit score you have?

Our broadband line is terrible (4mps on a very good day) and we are some time away from having fibre connected so I’ve been looking at mobile broadband. We never use our landline and there’s only one elderly relative who still uses it to call us every six months or so, but I can’t justify an extra £20 a month for that.

I know having a landline used to be an indicator of credit worthiness but is that still the case? We’re not currently in need of a loan, pay off the credit card monthly, on electoral register so it’s not a pressing concern but it is at the back of my mind.

Traditional landlines are being phased out & they will all eventually become VOIP, Internet phones

Why don't you give your relative your mobile phone number ?

Why don't you use one of those free online credit score checking sites to check your score ?

If you are paying all your bills on time & have no debts, your score should be good

Itisalongdriveto: The relative has the mobile number, but she still calls on my landline because she calls everyone on their landline numbers, and I know that landlines are being phased out - but it used to be a factor in assessing the credit risk in the industry I worked in, and I wondered whether this was still a factor that was important to some organisations.

Its totally irrelevant now - if you have ties to a property - ie mortgage / voters register / council tax.
If you have debts and pay them on time with no late payments, no defaults and heaven forbid no CCJs then get rid of the phone.
Ive not had a landline for years and have exceptional credit ranking ( think black cards / Platinum etc )
Companies credit score “on their own terms” ie job security, type of loan etc - a land line means nothing
