Getting mortgage advice

Hi so my credit score isn't terrible it's above average more towards fair, I'm mid 30s have children and I want to start saving for a house being how prices are now I just know it's away off yet and I rent right now.

My issue is that my partner has a good job earns a decent wage and will be saving the most money for a house as I work part time. He made a few mistakes in the past and was stupid with money in his younger days and now he owes around £15k in unpaid debt. We have been together 3 years.

He has looked into debt management companys to set up and arrangement as there's no way he can afford the repayments they want. His credit rating is in the poor category around 400 ish. My question is with a debt management plan in place, low credit score and a deposit would we get a chance to get on the mortgage ladder together in the future ? Any advice is much appreciated Thanks
