I've just worked out that I spend ( excluding my children) around £500 on 37 people friends and family and friend's children over the year, that's £42 a month! I'm not happy with this expense as a single mother and I am v frugal. Spending about £12 on most. Obviously more on patents and sisters family. Any suggestions?

Send an email/WhatsApp to say with the Col crisis you are no longer buying gifts for friends.
I imagine some of them feel the same and be relieved

Yes, stop buying gifts for randoms. Who are these people? Do they buy gifts for you? Do your DC go to lots of parties?

But in any case, most people will probably be relieved to be free of the obligation to have to find suitable gifts that are rarely wanted or needed, and many can't afford so definitely stop doing it unless it's people you're really close to.

Talk to them. Many will be relieved. We do a Secret Santa at Christmas between the adults so you get a decent present and save some money too.

That's an awful lot op!
We put money aside each month to cover our children's bday. We have drastically reduced who we buy for at Xmas
