Money gift from elderly parent

I'm having financial trouble due to health issues preventing me from working, and my ex is taking me back to family court. I have a big solicitor's bill I can't afford to pay. I've just got an important document so I can now apply for legal aid. My elderly mum has offered to pay the bill for me and pay off my relatively small credit card debt.

Are there any issues I should be aware of with this, like issues with the will or inheritance tax etc? I just don't know where to go for proper advice, before accepting her offer and hope you all can help!

I would let her pay your bills, any inheritance tax due will be settled by her estate. Unless it’s changed parents can give £3,000 per year to each of their children without it becoming an isuue.
