Hi does anyone work in the construction industry and can shed any light on this? Ex is claiming financial hardship due to the downturn in the Construction Industry and saying he has had a reduction in salary and no bonus this year. He is a high income earner, middle management, at the top end between £85k-£95k figure salary and I've never know him not receive a bonus in 7 years with the same company. We weren't married so its not about any divorce agreed maintenance, its to do with the CMS, he regularly doesn't pay but has claimed the above and so they won't put on the Collect and Pay. There are substantial arrears which are going unpaid too because he keeps on making random claims against me which puts their service into disary when he puts in Variation Request, claiming I owe him money (utter rubbish) etc etc. The relationship was domestic abuse and ended through the courts with a Non-Mol.

It's hard to say as it does vary from place to place.

All I will say is that there is a construction boom at the moment with huge swathes of the country having areas under construction due to house building, primarily, but also , lots of small to medium industrial site constructions.

Unless you're in a very rural , out of the way area then there's an insane amount of construction going on.

I gather that small builds eg extensions and renovations are hard to get done , at the moment, as there's bigger money to be had in larger scale constructions.

I'm not sure that my response was very helpful.

Sorry.

But I've also read about a few construction companies going bust, so perhaps there's some out there who've grown too fast, over-extended themselves and been tripped up by higher interest rates, or had to pay more than they've budgeted for for workers?

Who knows what his employment is like? But that doesn't stop him paying something every month if he is working and it should be a decent amount if he's a high earner.

Financial hardship my arse. He's taking the piss.

Construction in most sectors is booming. He may not get a bonus if there is restructure / m & A etc going on but he needs to pay.

If he is employed then it should be easy for him to produce payslips/P60 to prove his earnings. I am not sure how it works but surely CMS will check?

I do some work in the construction industry and a lot of companies have gone under in the last few years. All that needs to happen is one major client doesn’t pay them and that’s it. As an industry it isn’t doing well.

I'm talking massive world wide construction company, probably the biggest in this country.

I work for a new build construction company for a large house builder. We've all had slight wage increases (we get one yearly) and our bonus is due in a few months. However, we have been put on a recruitment ban and we're really tightening our belts with a lot of stuff due to slow selling.
