Need to make £20-50 quickly

50nowplease · 22/07/2023 20:07

I get paid on Friday so it's just to tide me over until then.

I need fuel for my car to get to work, have no-one to borrow off.

I can't get a loan or credit card due to poor credit.

I already do prolific but find people slow to approve and pay recently.

So other quick ways I can make money?

Sell something on Facebook market place

Badbudgeter · 22/07/2023 20:18

Honestly I’d start hunting for cash first. When I was unexpectedly skint I realised I had lots of change in coats/ bags. Some foreign money leftover from a holiday.

Also and I wouldn’t recommend this I once forgot my card at the jet garage at the Co-op. Realised after I put petrol in. Mortifying anyway they gave me a pink form and I had to come back and pay within five days or they’d prosecute. I paid and all was well, apparently it happens a lot.

Sell stuff on ebay. List lots of it and accept offers/buy it now. Price low.

Babyroobs · 22/07/2023 20:20

Sell stuff on vinted or Ebay as a buy it now. Do you have any Tesco clubcard vouchers you could spend on fuel ( not entirely sure you can spend them on fuel ? )

JamSandle · 22/07/2023 20:21

Sell something on Vinted, games and consoles do well on there.

noglow · 22/07/2023 20:23

This is a bit convoluted but do you have any loyalty points you could use to buy something and then sell that on? That's probably not allowed though.

ChaoticCrumble · 22/07/2023 20:25

qmee pays out instantly once your PayPal is set up and you can do surveys (and get kicked out of a lot of them)

others have suggested Vinted but you do need to wait for users to confirm receipt before you get payment: eBay is quicker

SkyesMama · 22/07/2023 20:26

Start doing surveys on Prolific - 50p a survey will add up but you won't be able to cash out until you get to £5.

Vinted won't release money to you until your buyer has the item in hand and has ticked Everything is OK' - it could take a week.

The fastest way for cash in hand would be to sell something on Facebook marketplace.

Pub shift? Just keep going to places and ask for any evening or weekend work?

Knock on neighbours' doors and ask if anyone needs odd jobs, weeding, ironing?

UnsungShero · 22/07/2023 20:28

Can you pawn your tv for a week?

Sounds very tough OP, I’m sorry. I’ve helped friends in similar situations before, please do reach out to friends if you can.

noglow · 22/07/2023 20:29

Any gold you could sell?

NotTooOldPaul · 22/07/2023 20:34

I hope someone offers to help you. I was in that sort of situation about 25 years years ago and it is horrible.

50nowplease · 22/07/2023 20:35

Single parent so can't take on pub shifts, probably should of said that.

I will manage, it's desperate but not impossible

Baby sitting?

50nowplease · 22/07/2023 20:39

Baby sitting?

@noglow Good shout actually, theres always parents locally who will pay you to take their DC to school/holiday club, great idea!

Dog sitting or dog walking? Taking in ironing? Put on your local Facebook page that you’re taking in ironing.

Thosepeskyseagulls · 22/07/2023 20:53

Your local vicar might have a discretionary fund. Ours does.

DarkDarkNight · 22/07/2023 20:54

I’m sorry you’re in that situation. I’ve been there and it is horrible.

Facebook Marketplace or local selling groups on Facebook are the best bet. If your child has any toys they don’t play with anymore you could sell them in bundles - Peppa Pig, Barbie, Lego or an outgrown bike. Any branded clothes or shoes you don’t wear or your child has outgrown?

calimali · 22/07/2023 20:57

Can you access a food bank so you don't need to do a shop this week?

surreygirl1987 · 22/07/2023 20:58

Definitely selling stuff on Facebook marketplace. Kids' toys and books. Clothes. Whatever you don't need. Check the cupboard under the stairs etc.

calimali · 22/07/2023 20:59

I do Prolific too and I agree it can be hit and miss if you get surveys and when they pay out. I have read online that it is worth logging on at about 3am because thats when many American unis add their surveys. The great thing about Prolific is that you can cash it in straight away once the researcher pays up.

50nowplease · 22/07/2023 21:04

I'm waiting on about £15 from prolific if they pay out I'll be fine as I can manage on that amount (it'd be tight but doable).

If you message the ones you're waiting for they might approve them quicker. Worth a go.

calimali · 22/07/2023 21:08

Just keep hitting the Prolific refresh button. I have made £6 today and they all paid out straight away. It's worth a try.

PermanentTemporary · 22/07/2023 21:10

Could you work from home one day? Or get a lift from a colleague?
