Any experience of PIP?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has any experience and can shed any light on this?

Applied for PIP on behalf of my husband just over 13 weeks ago. Yesterday, we received a lump sum payment which has worked out at exactly 13 weeks of low rate for both daily living and mobility. (£95 x 13 weeks). However, the letter has arrived today advising that he has in fact been awarded enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility, so his back payment should have been £172.75 x 13 weeks.

Is this something they do and then "repay" the higher rate at a later date?

I know I can ring them I just don't fancy over an hour on the 'phone and thought maybe someone had experience of this?

Thanks in advance.

The letter should detail the back payment?

Watching with interest. I’ve just been awarded it. They awarded all the areas with no problems points, and the areas with lots of problems no points.

Who knows what goes on in their tiny minds?

Thanks for replying.

The letter just states that a payment of £1,235.54 will be made (which it was, yesterday) but this is low rate for 13 weeks. It doesn't say anymore other than to breakdown the points he was awarded etc.

Does it detail when the dates are? You are not juts adding it up over 13 weeks? They should say it's from C to D (dates)

It says that the payment they made yesterday covers 10 April 2023 to 3 July 2023. So a bit over 12 weeks.

I would call them it could be a mistake where they have either paid standard rate or missed out the mobility element for the whole back pay

NoChanceYouMetalBastard · 19/07/2023 11:56

OK, thank you, I will give them a ring. Better go and make a big brew and settle in for the long wait!

It is horrible, isn't it.

We both cried when the letter arrived!

Well I have spoken to them and apparently they have underpaid the back payment he was due because they have taken some money off to pay back a tax credits debt from 2017! I didn't think they could do that!
