Hi everyone :)
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice
I have recently booked holidays to Egypt for may 2024 with LoveHolidays.. a couple of days after booking, I found out I was pregnant, due in March 2024 which means that the baby will only be about 7/8 weeks by the time I'm supposed to travel. As you can imagine I'm terrified of the thought of flying for nearly 7 hours on a plane with a baby that age.. plus the heat, the fact that the baby won't have full vaccinations, etc...
I have contacted love holidays and beside a congratulation message, they're really not helping at all. Quite hard to contact them as you can only do it online and it's hard to get any info from them. They are asking me to pay the full amount for the flights, fees and transfers which is nearly £2000.. which honestly I don't have.

I'm wondering if I could just cancel my direct debit with them? I know that this will result in the holiday being cancelled but other than that will I be in any troubles if I do that?

Tia :)

Could you email them a note from your doctor saying you are pregnant?

what about holiday insurance?

have you any contact details at all, any email address? keep trying.

Say you can’t go and have to cancel. Keep repeating that. Definitely do not pay any more money if you cannot go.

Can only contact them on their live chat, have told them so many times, but their cancellation quote is always the same - nearly £2000. No holiday insurance :( silly me! Although I did look it up and most of them do say that cancellation due to pregnancy is not covered. They keep saying that flights are non refundable which I don't really understand as I've read that they only pay for the flights a couple of weeks before it's due.
Will keep telling them that I can't pay and will just cancel my direct debit. Hate doing this sort of thing but really have no choice, there's no way Im taking a 2 month old to Egypt.

Cancelling the direct debit won't cancel the contract you have to pay for the holiday.

Look at the cancellation terms. Usually if you cancel several months in advance, you get a refund of most of your money as they should be able to resell the hotel even if the flights are non refundable. Which airline is it and what are their cancellation terms?

When they pay for the flights is irrelevant. They'll have accounts with the airlines and pay on bulk as they become due according to whatever arrangement they have. This is separate to the booking they've made on your behalf.

What are the terms? This far out it's usually only deposit only with a certain percentage due nearer the time, I doubt you'll need to pay for the majority of the holiday.

Hey just wondering if youve had an out come on this?
literally exact same thing is happening to me at the moment and im wondering if they will chase me for the money or just cancel and leave me alone?

caringcarer · 21/11/2023 12:24

Can you sell the holiday to someone else? Will they let you postpone the holiday a few months? If you signed the contract you will be tied to it. You should have had holiday insurance.

If OP does this she will be taken to court and end up with a CCJ.

Tryingtokeepcalmandcarryon · 21/11/2023 12:33

If you have agreed to the holiday Terms and Conditions I agree with a previous poster you can’t just ignore this, you might get a CCJ. Sounds like you do have to pay and need to find a way to do this, low interest, credit card, borrow off family, sell
something etc. If they won’t let you cancel I would try to postpone instead. I would do anything to avoid this going to a debt collection agency etc or having any impact on my credit score. You don’t want this escalating and getting very stressful for you during your pregnancy

Hey, did you have any luck? I’m in exactly the same situation too and they are wanting £2k off us to cancel, just found out I’m pregnant and will give birth the month we go, a lot of people on tik tok have cancelled DD and been ok

I believe Love Holidays are just some kind of broker. Eg they pretend they are selling you a package but actually they just source you a flight and accommodation. Had several friends who have had trouble with them.
