I'm looking for some insight as I've called UC and wrote in my journal and they have provided zero clarity.

I am due a baby in September and currently am self employed, I get help from UC to top me up.

What will happen when I go on maternity? Does anyone know how much it roughly is? I'm panicking as I have no insight and what to prep and make sure I can cover everything

When you start mat leave so presumably have no earnings then you would just get your total UC amount which would be standard elements and presumably rent element if you rent. Do you currently have children or is this your first ? When your baby is born you will get a child element added for that child once it is verified on your claim. I assume it's a single claim you have ?

You will go into the no work related requirement group. This means you will no longer be 'gainfully' self-employed.

Any earnings you have from self-employment thereafter will still be used to calculate your UC payment but the minimum income floor will no longer apply to you.

DM me if you have any questions x

Claim child benefit

Are you going to claim child maintenance from the father ?
