Insurance if fired.

Just bought out first home. DH and I both have life insurance and critical illness insurance, but is there such thing as insurance if you get fired from your job. Neither of us are planning on getting sacked, but it's always nice to have a back up just incase.

That’s what savings are for..!

Any insurance is technically available if you find a specialist underwriter but it would either be so full of loopholes as to be worthless, or so expensive that you would be better off putting the premiums into a savings account

Interesting question so follow to see what others say

I would think that if you got fired, it would be you 'fault'. No insurance is going to cover you for something like that (job wise - not accident wise)

Not fired

  • It won’t pay out if you’ve taken voluntary redundancy, resign from your job or if you’re dismissed

self-insure with savings

self-insure with savings

Might be an issue since all of our savings are going into the house purchase.

It's possible to insure against redundancy though there are likely to be hoops to jump through if you need to claim.

If you're sacked for misconduct of one sort or another then I doubt that, in and of itself, that would be insurable. One might however get insurance to cover the cost of taking an employer who sacked you to a Tribunal provided you have a decent case.
