Is my DP entitled to Paternity pay?

Hi all,

DP has been in his new job for less than 26 weeks and he's been advised he's not entitled to paternity pay.

Just wondering if there is anything else we can do? Is there a universal credit/benefit for this type of situation?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks x

Can he use his holiday allowance to cover it?

No there isn't. Whilst I appreciate that his help / presence would be very useful around this time, there is no benefit for people who choose to take unpaid time off from work. If he isn't entitled to paid paternity leave then it is annual leave, unpaid leave, or he has to stay in work.

He hasn't incurred enough unfortunately.

It's ok, we will just have to take the hit for a few weeks. Thanks

With our second DH was t entitled to any. His work did their best to be flexible however, when he went back on the Monday (DS born on Thurs night) he just 10-3 for a bit so he was around more. Perhaps your partner's employers would do similar?

He's actually just joined a few agencies as well as his new job (he's a support worker) so I think he's going to take a few shifts over those 2 weeks!
