The year between finishing A levels and starting Uni

DS finishes A levels this year and will work for a year until he starts Uni Sept 2024.

I get UC for him while he is in school, but that will stop August 2023 as he will be in work- approx 30 hours a week. I work too but get LCWRA as have a range of illnesses so can't work F/T

1/ If the UC stops as he has finished A levels, can I re-apply next year when he is in Uni and he (I presume) will still be classed as a dependant?

2/ Or is it that once is it stopped I cant apply again for him?

3/ Would it be worth him doing a p/t course from September this year so that he is "still in education" and the claim carries on as it is now?

Thanks for any help!

Why would you expect to get universal credit for your some when he is a young man who can work? Why doesn’t he plan to work full time, rather than only 30 hours per week, and contribute towards household expenses?

You can't get UC for a child at university. They're entitled to loans for living costs

It makes little sense him getting a part time course if he already has a job doing 30 hours per week lined up. He will have sufficient income even on minimum wage to give you something for his keep and for his own spending.

Surely the point is for him to save for uni, not to support his mother?

if he is going to be expected to contribute a chunk of his wage to bills at his mums, his saving on a part time job for an 18 year old isnt going to leave him much so he might as well not have the year out.

Does UC cover adult kids? I didn't know that.

I thought it only continues if child is under 19 and in full time education. Is he living at home for uni?
