So I've been separated from my ex for 7 years and I've paid maintenance to her every week without fail but I have my daughter for in excess of 110 days a year which mean technically she's not entitled to a penny but I pay 40 a week in cash to her I also pay half her sky TV and broadband I also am paying off her £1100 plus debt for the water company yet she still acts like she has some god given right to the weekly cash payments looking for advice on how to tell her I give that 40 as I don't want my daughter going without not cause she's entitled to it. I wouldn't mind so much if she actually worked but she doesn't

Cause I go without that's how. So not one of you has actually read my post properly as I haven't said I want to stop paying just want my ex to understand she's not entitled

She is entitled to receive maintenance for your kids yes

ahhhh okay @Nonoyourbuissnes in your opening post you didn't indicate you are in NI, that is a very important piece of info on this web site.
is your ex equally from ni? is she aware of what the regulations are?

That copy and paste is from the section that states

"If you are a paying parent receiving any of the following benefits, allowances or entitlements listed below, you will pay child maintenance at the flat rate:

•	State Pension
•	Incapacity Benefit
•	Training Allowance (other than work-based training for young people
•	Armed Forces Compensation Scheme payments
•	War Disablement Pension
•	War Widows Pension, War Widower’s Pension or Surviving Civil Partner Pension
•	Bereavement Allowance
•	Maternity Allowance
•	Carer’s Allowance
•	Severe Disablement Allowance
•	Industrial/Injuries Benefit"

If that is the case, then it's a fairly big drip feed on the details.

Do you give her cash so she has to put her hands out and say thank you? Most people just set up a standing order and don’t mention it.

Oh I see, if you don’t have a job you get away with it. You’ve not stated that you don’t have a job though so it’s hard to guess, feel free to fill in the gaps. Either way she’s still morally entitled to money towards raising your child.

Jmaho · 31/05/2023 18:42

Well you're so certain you'd have to pay just £2 a week then stop paying the £40 then. Stop paying everything else and pay a whole £104 a year for your daughter
Your ex won't be able to put a claim in because you're right and that's what you should pay
Then congratulate yourself on being such a great father. Job done

Just do 24/7 50% of the child rearing as you should and then you won't have to pay her a penny. Isn't that the easiest solution?
Why didn't you do this from the off?
