I've been using vinted for several weeks now, but I don't understand the favouriting!
I seem to get lots of favourites (30 odd) but no one seems to be buying anything. Does anyone know why people favourite and whether they have intention to buy?

I favourite things that I like and might buy, like a shortlist. Or things I like that are too expensive.

Sometimes sellers will message me offering a small discount and it might remind me of something I had forgotten. And I get updates when an item is discounted. So you might try that.

I use it like a short list, so if I was looking for a coat, I might scrole through dozens and favourite 6-10 that I quite like and are in budget, then I have a closer look at the ones in my favourite list to pick which to buy.

Does messaging people and offering a discount put them off though?

It's so addictive- I've sold some items and now keep looking for bits to sell 🙈

Offering a discount might encourage me to buy, but only if your quick. I sometimes get offers from the runner up short list items but after I've already bought something.

What often influences my choice is if I can buy something else and combine postage (multi buy discounteven more so), so I guess your best bet I'd just listing as much as possible. Even if it's unrelated size/category, I might be swayed in what I buy for myself if I can also pick up some stuff in my kids size.

I also favourite things to shortlist or to save. I'll get notified if the price is lowered on favourited items so if it's more than I want to pay now I might be tempted if the price goes down.

I’ve found half the time if someone has added something in favourite and I offer a small discount they will buy.

I do exactly this.

Bananaman123 · 21/05/2023 17:53

I use it as a shortlist or to keep an eye on it to see if it drops in price, if you reduce an item a notification is sent to those who favourite and I’ve sold a few items this way, more beauty items than clothes though.

I also favourite things I might like in other seasons, but a good offer and I might buy before the season starts.

blueraininlondon · 21/05/2023 19:51

Thanks everyone! I took your advice and managed to sell two items already ☺️

The key to vinted is patience. I've just sold something that I listed in January!

Heatherbell1978 · 21/05/2023 20:38

I have loads of favourites - it's like a bookmark. I'm not going to buy everything I like, somethings are over-priced but might reduce and I sell too so often wait until I have enough money in my Vinted account before buying things.
