My DM is in the process of buying a home with her DP. Both currently own their own homes separately but are in the process of selling.

Her DP is fortunate enough that he can buy the new property without funding from either sale, so they’re in no rush, however my DM is concerned about taxes / charges that she’ll incur while they both own 2 houses.

We’re hoping they’ll both sell within a few months of buying the new house but obviously no guarantee. She’s going to be on the deeds for the new house as tenant in common (50/50).

Can anyone advise please?

They'll have to pay the increased stamp duty charge but will get the difference back as long as they sell the other properties within 3 years of buying
