My friends partner works 30 hours in construction self employed.
She is looking to work 28.
Childcare costs are looking to be 900+ pounds a month.
Will she get 85 percent back.
She'd be on 11 pounds per hour and he earns 12 an hour. They are currently on universal credit. She's asked me to post for her on here by the way she doesn't have an account and I know mumsnet is great for this sort of advice.

Tell her to put the numbers into entitledto and they will calculate exactly what they are able to claim, it also calculates how much better off they will be overall.

It all depends on how much their rent is and overall Uc entitlement atm.
UC will pay up to 85% atm it’s £646 but it’s going up to £900 soon.
Pension contributions will matter too as UC is based off your take home pay after tax/ni and pension

she’s best off putting the figures into a benefits checker.

Imagine if someone took a job based purely on advice from an anonymous forum!

As above - use a proper benefits calculator.

As others have said, she needs to use a benefits calculator yo find out exactly what they'll get.

However, by my calculations they'll have a household income of about £34k. So the short answer is no, they're very unlikely to get 85% of their childcare paid for.

Use the benefits calculator.
