My business as a childminder is not working out for me as im really struggling to find any parents close to me. i need to find a full time job to pay the mortgage, if im separating from my husband. (Me and husband had spoken about separating last week but he won't move out). We've got 3 kids.

Will i get much help from the hmrc? And if my husband is still living with me??

You would need to claim Universal credit which is administered by DWP. If you are not staying in the house then if you own half the house, DWP would expect it to be for sale or for your ex to buy you out of your share. UC will help you with rent and disregard the house equity for six months if the property is on the market. You can claim as single whilst still living in the same house but could be asked to prove that you are completely financially separate, sleep in separate rooms, cook separately etc. It's a bit of a grey area to be honest. Depending on the age of your youngest child, when you claim UC you will be expected to look for work.
