Rental referencing checks help

Does anyone know how referencing checks are done with goodlord? As part of the online form, the only bit it asked about income was to grant access to our banking app.

Would this just check for what income receive from the employer we listed? Or would it weigh up our outgoings v income?

My husband currently has a lot of outgoings that would make it look like we couldn't afford the rent, but he's getting money this week to pay everything off so would be debt free by the time we start paying rent which is why we've chose to do it now.

We were going to wait until he'd paid it all off but found the perfect house and got accepted for it!

I know rental questions on mumsnet tend to get controversial so can we not bother with replying about how we should start saving now we'll have no debt. Thanks!

I was a guarantor via goodlord recently - not sure if it's the same, but when it asked for access to my bank account I declined! It gave me the option to attach payslips then.

Damn I wish I knew that was an option!

I can't find anything anywhere that says exactly what information is taken, but surely if you can prove income with a wage slip they'd just look at your income? At least that's what I'm hoping!

That's what I did! Just sent in 3 months of payslips to prove income, I wasn't prepared to give full access to my bank account just for a guarantor check! I'm assuming they'll just check for income, is there anyone you can speak to check with?
