Leasing Cars - upkeep & repairs

Hi,
I am trying to figure out if we are better leasing a car and am working out costs again buying etc...
one of my questions is additional expenses on a lease car.
I can see there have been some threads about this but am confused as when I search online it that repairs and maintenance is not included but a lot of threads on here say they are?
Also any recommendations for lease companies would be fab!

It depends on the lease deal you strike. Some of them include servicing and some don’t.

It’s usually a customer choice thing — a bit like how you can choose the lease term length (two years, three years, four years etc) or the colour. Adding maintenance on (or not) works a bit like that.

I have lease cars as I am self employed and can offset the cost.

My view is that if you have a new vehicle you shouldn't need to pay out much. In my 3 year lease I will have had 2 sets of tyres (lots of miles). And 2 services - there was an offer on for buy one service get the next one much cheaper.

Many things would be covered by the warranty.

@HolibobsinApril that's very interesting thank you, as I am self employed and vat registered! How do you offset the costs?
Ps: thank you for your help x

I'm a self employed sole trader and instead of claiming mileage, I claim almost all of my lease payments, fuel, tyres and upkeep.

If I'm honest I don't know a huge amount about it as I have a great accountant who does it all for me. But she definitely stated that I would be better off doing it like this.

@HolibobsinApril that's fab, I will contact my accountant on Monday and find out. This could make a massive difference in my decision making so thank you!

@tyson2007 lots of videos on YouTube about leasing cars with or without maintenance included, pros and cons. I have never leased a car but we did consider it recently hence looking into it. We looked at Leaseloco to compare deals.

We have a business lease with tyres and maintenance included. It was cheaper anyway than running our old car but as we have had to have 6 new tyres in the last year (each at a cost not much less than the monthly lease), we are definitely quids in.

Shouldbehoovering · 15/04/2023 09:02

Definitely speak to your accountant. Electric cars are especially tax efficient if done through the business.

Thanks foe the lease loco info! I'll need a new lease later this year and they have some great prices.

6 tyres?

Shouldbehoovering · 15/04/2023 12:05

Yep, 3 unrepairable punctures and 3 apparently ‘ripped’ to a point which makes then unsafe. The lease company have a deal with tyre ones - maybe the tyre companies are ripping them off… I have no idea.
