Clearpay/Klarna after mortgage offer?

So we're in the process of moving, no debts etc. Before this I'd use Klarna or Clearpay so I could order and return what I wasn't keeping without being charged. Obviously you're warned against taking out new debts. Would this count? Could really use it at the moment!

I wouldn't if I were you - they can perform further checks at any time until completion and lenders really, really hate Klarna and the like on credit reports. If your credit is otherwise squeaky clean and you've got a reasonable amount of equity going in (i.e. you're not on a 95% or 90% mortgage) it might be fine if checked, but no mortgage broker would tell you it was a sensible idea.

It's too big a risk even if the chance of being rechecked after offer is low, I'd say. If you're using it for non-essential items which it sounds like you are, then you can wait anyway. You'd be so gutted if your mortgage offer got withdrawn before you completed over something non-essential.

I use klarna often. Always paying it off exactly on time.

My credit score is as good as it can possibly be and it hasn't affected my ability to be approved for a mortgage.

It's likely a different story if you don't pay on the deadline dates though.
