New message about credit cards on paypal

Just gone to pay for something on marketplace and paypal came up with a message saying my credit card provider might charge a money withdrawal fee

Is this new? I use a tesco cc if it's different

I know I can ring them but it's good Friday and I reckon they will be understaffed!

Yes that's what I was thinking, use a debit card. Set up an account with Starling or Monzo if you want to keep things separate from your main account.

Debit card means I have to have the money available right then in that account

I think monza is the way to go - all business spending on Monzo and only when I have the money - I'll lose out on some unique things but cash flow is always the pits

PayPal transactions on credit cards are not eligible fire section75 claims on credit cards as there is a 3rd party involved (PayPal). To be eligible for section75 the transaction needs to be over £100 but less than £30,000, a direct link between debtor (you) creditor (credit card) & supplier (company you are buying from) & lastly there must be a breach of contract or misrepresentation.

PayPal credit payments are eligible for section 75 as it is a credit transaction and the link is direct between you and the goods provider. It is not the same as using a credit card through PayPal. I have made a section 75 claim through PayPal credit and been successful. Of

That's why at the start I said PayPal txns on a credit card. I didn't mention PayPal credit.

I've been charged with Tesco & Halifax so assume Lloyds will be the same (Lloyds & Halifax are the same banking group) very annoying as it's definitely a new thing brought in by PayPal.

Hubby wasn't charged with Capital One & a friend wasn't charged with Barclaycard (but obviously may be in the future)

I complained to both banks, Halifax refunded the fee as a one off but said I'll be charged in future. Tesco won't refund & said any payments made through PayPal I'll be charged in future. That's for Goods & Services as well as Friends & Family options.

I often pay friends back when splitting meals out etc so need to find an alternative payment method that works without fees - any suggestions?

Both Halifax & Tesco have said it's due to a change at PayPal with how they register the payment against credit cards.
