Hard search from remortgage - should I wait to buy car on finance?

I have a very good credit rating and want to buy a used car on finance. I’ve just started a remortgage application and there’s a new hard search on my file.

Should I wait before buying the car on finance and if so, how long?

Not sure if things have changed but when I was buying a few years ago, I was advised not to take out finance deals for at least 6 months before applying for a mortgage and none once I had, until completion of the property

Thanks it’s a remortgage so should be finished quickly. Just wondering if the mortgage hard search will make it harder to get the car finance even though my credit is good.

Getting a car on finance will make getting a mortgage/ remortgage harder. Getting a remortgage won’t make getting a car on finance harder.

Thanks @dreamersdown I was more concerned about the timing as they’d be in close succession but sounds like it should be OK.

Please don’t take out a car finance until the remortgage is complete. The banks can check your affordability right up until the day of completion and if you take out car finance, your mortgage may be deemed as unaffordable. X
