Selling anything you dont want need use on Ebay

SenoraPostrophe · 07/12/2004 20:35

buying from car boots and selling on ebay (I know someone who does this)?

What are your talents? (craft/cooking/writing/talking etc)?

BadHair · 07/12/2004 21:14

I occasionally do the same as Senorapostrophe's mate and buy stuff from second hand shops then sell them on ebay. Its good if you have decent charity shops near you - I live near two very posh towns so they always have good stuff. Assistants look at you a little oddly when you're buying clothes that are clearly the wrong size, though.
Have to say that it's a bit of a faff to get them all online then parcel them and post them all off, though. Returns aren't huge unless you put lots of effort in, which I never do.
And to lessen my guilt, I sometimes make donations back to a charity shop if I've mad a filthy profit off one of "their" garments.
I did think about starting a secretarial business that local businesses could use on an ad hoc basis. That had potential until my bank checked my credit history and laughed me all the way down the high street (I've been skint for years).

How can I find out what I could expect to charge for offering an ironing service?

OP posts:
Demented · 07/12/2004 21:21

Is anyone in your area (or nearby town) offering an ironing service already? If there is you could phone them and pretend to be a new customer and ask what they charge, if they pick-up/deliver, charge extra for this or include in price etc, etc then price yourself competatively.

prufRockingAroundtheXmasTree · 07/12/2004 21:47

Ironing service.

I pay £1 per pound. It works out at about £17 for 2 weeks ironing (usually 10 shirts, and another 8 t-shirts/skirts). My Ironing Lady picks up and delivers, usually within 24 hours, sometimes same day. If you don't mind ironing, and are happy to stand in front of TV whilst doing it in the evenings, then it's a good idea. You should

sell on ebay - money off coupons, stuff you pick up cheap in shops and stuff you don't want/need, baby stuff, toys, unwanted gifts anything. Returns not fab but it covers my coffee and entertainments money. But I don't do dribs and drabs - I collect a load of stuff and do it all in 1 week

I mentioned this thread to a friend of mine and she's given me some info to pass onto you.

According to Helen, they both provide information on what sorts of businesses you can start and how to get the best help available.

So, good luck with your venture and I hope this posting has helped.

If you have any talents you could make things and sell them on Etsy. If you don't have any talents you could contact local artists/crafts people and offer your services to sell their things on Etsy.

Or you could offer an Ebay service to people who don't have time to sell their second hand stuff. I need this service.
