Do you think I'm right to appeal or should I pay?

My 3 month old grandson recently got rushed into hospital with a hernia which required emergency surgery. My daughter obviously stayed with him during his stay.
She's a single parent with two other young children who myself and ex took in while she was in the hospital.
I had to take one of them to school, didn't know where I was going so followed the sat nav.
I have just received a fine from the local council for driving in a pedestrian only zone. My sat nav didn't alert me to this and my daughter, being in a state of panic and worried about her baby didn't think to warn me about it. (She also doesn't drive).
Should I appeal the fine?

Admitting that you weren’t concentrating is not a good defence

Pay the fine

sorry to hear about your GS I hope he is ok now

pay the fine there’s no grounds for appeal. My sat nav often gives me the wrong speed limit for some roads as it’s not up to date enough so I would never rely on it for that.

I'm normally firmly in the your cock-up so you should pay camp but it might be worth a shot. You won't know if you don't try.

My colleague had a fine quashed on appeal after she drove somewhere she shouldn't when leaving the hospital after her father had just died there.

Thank you for all your comments. My grandson has got over his op and has made a good recovery.
I'm not blaming the sat nav at all, I'm at fault for not being observant. I will go back and look for the signage which must be there somewhere. I could only see permit holder only parking signs in the surrounding roads so couldn't even park anywhere near the school. I literally stopped and watched her go in then drove off. If the school had been nearer, I would have walked.
