B & Q - Should I take this further ?

I bought some paint last week from B & Q. It was the type that has to be mixed up in the machine.

Once on the wall we discovered that it was a lot darker than the sample card. I'd left my decorator to it and by the time I'd come back home he'd finished. The operator told me that it would dry lighter so we didn't think too much about it.

It turns out that the machine handler 'apparantly' used the wrong base (I thought the base was always white?).
When I took the paint back they told me the 'deep' base had been used.

I got a credit note for the value of the paint and I'm OK'ish about the colour even though it wasn't what I originally wanted (it's a dark teal). But if we decide to change it I'll have to pay the decorator twice for his time.

Do you think I should pursue things with the manager of the store to get some sort of compensation. The dept manager didn't really want to give me a credit note even.

Afterall, we'll have to pay our decorator twice or put up with a colour room we didn't really want ?

What would you do. I am very cross about it.

definitely pursue it. B and Q customer service is dreadful though.

I agree, you should definately persue it. Good luck!

Def take this further- argue it out with their HQ, mention trading standards etc..

They should pay for the cost of your decorator's time to repaint IMO

Thanks everyone, that's given me the push to go for it.

defintiely persue it

B&Q were great with me... they were delivering stuff to my house but on the van there was paint for someone else

they droppsed the tin and spilt paint all over the ground in the (council owned, not my own personal) area that i park my car.

they put a TINY amount of sand on it (not enough) and i got paint all over the wheel and paint of my car. (it was luckily emulsion so did wash off easily)

any way i went to B&Q, the manager came out and didnt hesitiate to offer tohave my whole car cleaned and valeted ...

so i did that, bought in the recipt and B&Q paid the bill no questions
