I've had a couple of windfalls in the last few months: an inheritance, a refund from HMRC and a win on the Premium Bonds. So for the first time ever I have £20,000 to invest in an ISA and only a few days to work out which one.

I'm retiring next year and will take professional advice from an IFA to sort out what to do with my private pension fund and workplace pension funds. For now I just want to make use of my £20k ISA S+S allowance. I can transfer to another fund at a later date if necessary. Is there a quick and prudent choice?

I use Fidelity. Re the Credit Suisse situation I think as long as you don’t invest more that 85K with a single fund provider you’re okay. So if you have more than 85K and everything is with Vanguard (and I think you can only pick Vanguard funds with their platform) then that could be an issue. I may be wrong on that! If you can pick other funds on the Vanguard platform then ignore everything I said haha

Also, of course you should never time the markets but everything seems in its boots at the moment so it’s maybe not a bad time to plunge the whole lot into a fund asap rather than sitting in cash for a year
