Hi all,

I've tried google but can't find a clear answer can anyone help?

I get UC. I earn too much for a 'normal' award but because I'm a carer for DS I get the allowance for this and I don't lose it all through earnings. Usually get about £140 a month.

Ds does a sport. He's been awarded a grant to cover expenses up to a fixed amount which is paid quarterly on claiming. The award is in his name but due to his disability it'll come into my bank account.

I can't find anything that says this will count towards my income because it comes through my account or any information about receiving grants and it affecting UC beyond students receiving loans etc. Ds doesn't get UC because he's a student.

Does anyone know how this works?

It should not count as your income due to the paper trail. It should be the same as being someone’s DWP appointee and receiving their benefits into your account.

Thankyou. I had thought that because I also get his pip and it isnt counted.

But I'm always conscious of getting it right and obviously a) don't want to be getting money I'm not entitled to or b) end up getting a letter about claiming fraudulently!
