How much does your child save if they are working and living at home?

Had a discussion with our DS yesterday. He has always been pretty good with money. He has a nice car, all paid for. He spends money on holidays and clothes/trainers etc. He doesnt have a trade and he works for minimum wage but he is not scared of hard work or putting in hours.

Anyhow, the discussion was about how much he was managing to save (Quite a lot imo) and the conversation got onto future plans. He has something in mind which i could see him doing well at but tbh, as long as he is happy then i dont really care.

So, if you have an DS/DD working full time and living under your roof, how much would you expect them to be saving?

My daughter saves one third of her salary each month. One third goes for bills (or did when she was living away, now back temporarily) one third for spending. We encouraged this from her first pocket money when she was a teenager. She's saved a substantial amount.

We've encouraged DD to save as much as possible from her salary now she's working full time and still living with us. I don't know how much but we've reinforced to her that she'll likely never have this much opportunity again to save as easily and without much sacrifice.

She has high-ish commuting costs, pays her own phone and runs her car. She treats herself to things, mainly gym clothes but is building herself a house deposit.
