Payslip confusion driving me crazy

Hi there I'm really hoping that someone who understands payslips can help me out with why our numbers are coming up short every week?

My husband works 39 hours a week and gets paid £15 an hour, even with the deductions of tax NI and pension I don't think he's being paid enough every week but the payslips are so confusing that I can't work it out.
He's doesn't get paid for having holidays as he took the higher rate instead

Any help.would be much appreciated

If he's paying £80 in margin to the umbrella then that seems a lot for a weekly pay. Is he allowed to choose his own umbrella company? If so, shop around. It's a very competitive market. Some will do a fixed margin per week, no matter how much you earn, while others will charge a %of the hourly earnings. You might be better of with the fixed margin.

Also, make sure he uses all the benefits of Umbrella working. If he's ever off sick, he needs to let them know and they will pay stat sick pay and also paternity pay. That's part of what the margin has to go towards.

Pat/Maternity pay is reclaimed from the govt so it costs the umbrella nothing and doesn't come out of their fee, which is just basically their admin cost and profit

@Kazzyhoward SSP is not though, and that is the one that is most commonly claimed by working people, and umbrella contractors rarely realise they can claim. The umbrella can't claim back SSP so part of their margin has to build a pot of SSP they pay out to all employees who claim. They are required to keep funds available for this pot and demonstrate they are solvent and able to pay all SSP liabilities. Usually the Mat/Pat leave forecast sits in the same pot for budget purposes.
