Order new debit card after spam call?

My son at uni got a spam call on his mobile yesterday. He was expecting a call from the optician, so answered his phone, which he wouldn’t often do if it was an unrecognised number.
The usual - claiming to be his bank and they were checking, unauthorised transactions etc.
They had his name and the last four digits of his card number and obviously his mobile number.
He knows about bank scams and said he would call them back on the bank fraud number. Of course, they tried to pressure him, so he ended the call.

When he got home he called his bank and they confirmed they hadn’t been in contact and there were no suspicious transactions.

However he is now a bit spooked that someone has his name, card and phone details. He’s also worried as he can’t remember whether he gave them his DOB when they asked him to confirm it. He definitely didn’t give any passwords/security codes etc.

The bank didn’t suggest it, but we’re wondering if he should order a replacement debit card? I’m not sure if the number changes for a replacement though, perhaps only if you report it as lost/stolen?

I'd phone the bank and ask them if they'll issue a new one. For peice of mind.

I agree with yousmellnice. They probably haven't got all his details (otherwise why phone to try and get them) but for peace of mind I would ask for a new card. Lucky he was sensible enough to realise it was a probable scam!

Oh and usually the last four digits change on a new bankcard. My bank replaces mine several times a year if they think any transactions are slightly suspicious.
