UC impact if partner moves in temporarily

DSis has had a major problem with the house she owns, meaning that she has to move out for anything up to 6 months while the Insurance company fix it. Her partner is on Universal credit and lives elsewhere (the arrangement suits them both). Will his benefits be affected if she temporarily moves in with him?

She doesn't want to cause him any issues.

Websites aren't clear, so would anyone know?.

I'm sure he'd have to declare her living there for 6 months as I'd assume she will be helping with food etc?

If she has any income then yes it will afaik.

They’ll have to claim as a couple then he’ll have to reapply as single again when she leaves.

Yes if they are a couple they will need to make it a couples claim. Any earnings and savings she has will affect the claim and he may no longer be eligible. It will depend on their joint situation.

She has a minimum wage job. No mortgage as she was lucky to be able to buy somewhere cheap after she moved back to our hometown when her previous relationship broke down.

She will have to talk to her partner and figure something out. Thanks all.

Does he work ? If he does not work due to illness and has the LCWRA element on his claim, then between them they won't stand to lose as much as some of her earnings will be disregarded before it reduces the UC. So it may not be a case of him losing all the UC if as he may do if ne does not have the LCWRA element.

He was medically retired from his job due to illness but I don't know about LCWRA. I'll mention it to them. Thanks.
