Filing an amended tax return

Hope someone here can help! I need to file an amended tax return for the tax y/e 20/21 so I only have until 31 Jan to do this. It is the one year I used an accountant so it is the only tax return I cannot view online via my HMRC account and file an amendment. I am trying to get hold of the accountant but I've not had a response yet (assume it's a very busy month for them). However, it's ONE box that needs amending and I am reluctant to pay for him to file an amended tax return nor get into a dispute as to whose fault it was that this figure was missing. Does anyone know how I can file an amended tax return in this scenario? Can I do it by sending in a paper return? I was on hold for almost an hour this morning to HMRC. They said I could do it online even if I used an accountant. It transpires that I can't so I'm now on hold again and figure wise Mumsnetters may have a response before I get through! Thanks in advance.

Please ignore this! I finally got through after 70 mins on hold! For anyone who searches this thread in the future (in case it's useful), the answer is that a paper amendment needs to be submitted and sent by snail mail. Alternatively, pay the accountant to do file the amendment in the same way they filed the original return.
