Single self employed & UC

Husband and I are breaking up. Our twochildren will start with me apart from EOW. What's the most I can earn being self employed if I claim UC? Does it make a difference what child maintenance I receive.

Thanks

There isn’t a cap on earnings- the goal is to out earn what you’d receive on UC. If you are established self employed then you will have the minimum income floor applied (search gov.uk for more detailed explanation). Child maintenance won’t be taken in to account.

I don't understand how there can't be a cap. Surely you can't earn £50,000 per anum and still get UC

Apologies, I thought you meant the minimum you can earn and still get UC. The cap depends on what your basic entitlement is- standard allowance, children, housing, childcare etc. The best thing to do is use one of the benefit calculators to give a more accurate figure, the entitledto one is good
