Their car was parked at the time, so left a note giving my name/mob no etc.

They rang up, said they would be taking it to the garage to get a quote etc but this was over a week ago now and still have not heard anything.....do I call them and chase or?

Did not take any photos as was dark and pissing it down and had a screaming DS in the back of my car so....

no, don't chase. It may be that they are not bothered.

PussinJimmyChoos · 29/01/2008 16:30

You think? The only thing I don't want, is for me to relax over it all and then in a couple of months time, get landed with a bill or something so trying to suss out the legalities of it, iyswim?

insurance companies often don't bother chasing this up unless you're honest enough to admit to it.
So its only honesty that can make you pay.

it wasnt my boss was it.... a silver audi? (I doubt it but you never know!)

someone scraped his car and left him a note... im sure he has called them and that was as far as he has got so far... as far as i know!

SalVolatile · 30/01/2008 21:00

Hi just wanted to say well done for leaving a note, as if someone had taken your number and you hadn't stopped, the insurance company of the other party would have passed your registration to the police, andyou WOULD have been prosecuted for failure to stop/report -
( and I know, I'm a JP). Having given your details that is all your obligation. If they do contact you, and if they provide a proper estimate for repair, then you are liable and your insurers should be informed unless the claim is way below your excess/no claims bonus and you can afford to pay it yourseld. Just be careful that any claim they make matches with your recollection of any damage caused.

CaptainCod · 30/01/2008 21:02

oh god another jp on mn?
there are millions of us now!

PussinJimmyChoos · 30/01/2008 21:23

NannyL - no wasn't an Audi....was an old car...I have no standards

I just wonder how long they can leave it before they can't claim iyswim? I mean I've given them every chance but what I don't want is a bill a year down the line iyswim?

ok...

it was just all the timings were right...

his car was hit weekend before last, he called then last monday and as far as i know hasnt progressed further, and last monday is now over a week ago lol!

I COMPLETELY see where you are coming from as well... focourse you dont want a bill in several months time

PussinJimmyChoos · 30/01/2008 21:29

Does sound very similar though doesn't it!
No wonder if you thought was me!

I just want to buy myself a lovely 'mummy' bag (is £130 too much??!! lol!) and can't unless I know just how much I have to cough up.... keep telling myself my halo is gleaming that much brighter for being honest and all that...

LOL (his car is a 'quite old' audi btw lol!)

PussinJimmyChoos · 30/01/2008 21:33

No if it was an Audi I would have nicked the logo and stuck it on ours!!!
