They have gone into receivership

So DO NOT buy from there

I think it is still worth phoning just to register your "claim" (who knows what records they have kept). Your order could yet already be in their warehouse in which case you may still get it. Or you could probably buy an ex-display when they reopen. If you are looking for a refund though it could be a long wait, unless you bought on credit card.

bumpity bump

just in case someone has NOT heard about it

I saw on the news today how amgry customers have been damaging the stores and the staff's cars. I know its not the staff's fault, but you can't blame the customers that have been left out of pocket.

There have just released info that after a stock take, 3,000 items are waiting to be delivered. I don't know how to check if my item is one of those as the phone is constantly busy.

Piggiesmum · 03/12/2004 20:21

Sorry but you can't excuse the customers for damaging the staff cars!. No it's not their fault the companies gone bust and damaging their property is going to achieve what exactly?. Yes people are angry they've lost money but that doesn't excuse that type of behaviour. Besides the customers may only have lost a few hundred £ (yes I know some will have lost quite a bit more) but the staff will be wondering whether they've lost alot more i.e. their jobs/livelihood.

kid · 03/12/2004 21:08

I agree that they are wrong to go and damage the staff's property and also they have assaulted some members of staff which is totally unacceptable. I don't see what they are going to do to resolve the situation as they clearly don't have the money to refund or the goods to deliver. It doesn't make it any easier on us costumers to just accept though I'm afraid.

misdee · 06/12/2004 20:23

Any luck yet kid?

kid · 07/12/2004 13:25

no luck. I tried to see the bank manager but the queue was sooo long and the customer service desk was shut. I want to see him rather than speak to the call centre over the the phone.
I also tried ringing the Courts helpline but I was on hold for over 10 minutes and its a 0870 number so not good for my phone bill! The last I heard was Courts have over 3000 items of stock waiting to be delivered but I have no idea if our table is there!

kid · 16/12/2004 21:33

Not sure if anyone is aware about it, but Courts have decided that all customers will have their orders met. They are offering us the item we originally ordered or if it is unavailable, we can choose an alternative and will be given a 10% discount. Haven't been able to go to the store yet, am hoping to go at the weekend. So, things don't look as bad as they first did for us.

misdee · 16/12/2004 21:38

yay!!

thats excellant news. but have you sorted out an alturnative table and chairs yet?

kid · 16/12/2004 22:01

we have ordered an alternative one from Additions but they can't gaurantee delivery before Christmas. I have spke to additions and explained the situation but they can only say the table is still with the supplier. She advised me to leave it on order until we know which one will be here first! At this rate, we will have 2 tables and chairs in Jan!

kid · 16/12/2004 22:02

If Courts can't deliver before Xmas (I don't think they will) then I want to use the deposit for a new bed for DS. I think their beds are quite pricey but seeings as we thought we had already lost the £253 it won't be too bad!

kid · 18/12/2004 21:45

I went to Courts on Friday and spent nearly 3 hours there! They did have a bed that I could of got for DS but it cost £800!!! No way was I giving them anymore money! So instead I chose a wardrobe for DD with a mirror on it (she loves looking at herself so she will be in heaven!). The asst mgr gave me a king size duvet for the inconvenience! People were taking coffee tables and matresses with them, it was getting less and less stock before our eyes! Glad its over now. Just got to wait for the wardrobe to be delivered on Tues.

misdee · 18/12/2004 22:30

glad your got something sorted. dh is wanting to go there next week just to see what they have left and if we can get a bargain.

i could do with table and chairs myself
