Hi All,
I am after some information. If my dds dad moves in with his partner who has a disabled child - will this bring down the amount he must pay child maintenance? I understand there will be a reduction due to living with a child but it also says there is a reduction if living with a disabled child. Does anyone know what the reduction is? Not being a snotty ex, just wondering for my own finances and what will be coming in.
thanks in advance :)

I think there is some horrible clause that if carers is claimed for the child I think ex only has to pay you £7 per week irrelevant of how much he earns. Double check this though.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t think his partner gets carers allowance but does get DLA for her autistic child. There doesn’t seem to be anything online other than that it will be taken into account when working out the rate.

That only applies if the paying parent is the one claiming carer’s allowance. If the woman he moves in with is claiming it for her child, then it doesn’t affect his child maintenance payment as he isn’t claiming carer’s allowance.
If he was claiming carer’s allowance then he’d have to be in a very low wage so wouldn’t be paying child maintenance over £7 anyway as he’d be claiming some other benefit.
