Joint money pot advice

How does everyone go about organising their joint household money pot? DP and I currently get paid into separate accounts then transfer the same amount of money to a bills account for the mortgage and all bills then I just tend to do the food shop and he will pay for fuel and any vehicle costs.
I’m wondering whether there might be a better way to organise ourselves so that we can make savings and be more financially aware. Can people give me a breakdown of what works for them?

Everything goes into our joint account which pays for all the household and family expenses. We then each have a set amount of ‘fun money’ each month for things like hair, clothes, drinks with friends - personal spends basically. It works really well for us, we don’t argue about money and it’s fair. I look after the children and the house and work part time so he does earn more than me but we see it as a household income.

Dh earns double what I do. He gets paid monthly so that pays the mortgage and bills. Anything left goes into joint savings. I get paid weekly so we use that to live on - food, fuel and day to day expenses. We discuss big purchases but if we want to buy anything, we just do it. Everything is shared

We just have one joint account and everything goes in and out of that. Seems to work for us, but we set it up like that as I was a sahm and DH had a decent salary. Now things have changed around and we both get paid similar amounts, but we were used to just having one account.

we have savings in both our names. Mostly mine as I’m the one who organises them, but DH has an isa.

My boyfriend pays all the bills. I pay for all the shopping and most of the going out and fill the vehicles with fuel.

I do have a lot more disposable income than him as we had completely different lifestyles before getting together but it works for us.
