Where to sell DVDs?

I have a couple of hundred DVDs I want to sell before I move house. Is it worth it? Where's the best place to sell?

No one wanted mine. I gave them to a charity shop.

TrashPandas · 07/10/2022 15:03

I thought that might be the case. I mean, I don't watch them any more so why would someone else want them!

Something like Magpie rings a bell. Maybe google it and see what comes up?

TwoMonthsOff · 07/10/2022 15:32

www.musicmagpie.co.uk/entertainment/sell-dvds/

they will take them as a job lot but you won’t get much for them but at,least it’s better than landfill

QuebecBagnet · 07/10/2022 15:32

Even the charity shops here don’t want them.

mdh2020 · 07/10/2022 15:58

Scan the bar codes on Music Magpie app. We used the rule that if we were offered 20p they were worth putting in the box and selling. Occasionally we got £1 for one and got excited but it all adds up. You could offer them to local school for Xmas fair.

TrashPandas · 07/10/2022 17:23

I just gave Music Magpie a go. I scanned about 10 DVDs and half of them prompted a message saying "We don't want this one" or words to that effect. A few of the successful ones did come in over £1 though.

Some are still fairly collectable, especially box sets, music, Disney Have a quick flick through Ebay just to check.

TrashPandas · 07/10/2022 18:07

Thanks Lorry, I will. Most of them are comedy boxsets.

I had 2 large boxes of DVDs and CDs. Scanned them all into Music Magpie app. They only wanted about 10 altogether and the total offered for all 10 was £2.82. They were my daughters from the 90s and noughties, popular films and artists. I sold mine a few years ago and got quite good offers for obscure artists and titles, very low on more popular stuff. I boxed them all, and took them to our local hospice shop.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 07/10/2022 20:31

Ziffit is another option.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 07/10/2022 20:31

Or a local care home?

windmill26 · 07/10/2022 23:26

Cex

ChessieFL · 09/10/2022 14:07

Also try WeBuyBooks (despite the name they take DVDs and other stuff too).

Banana2079 · 10/10/2022 07:25

There is a shop in my shopping centre which has huge rows of DVDs that are donated and people can come and take them for free and donate unfortunately they are not worth much anymore
Look up the films on eBay and Vinted and see what they go for Or put them up as a job lot

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 10/10/2022 16:49

I sold a load at a carboot I sold 5 for £1 and they all went

MK85 · 12/10/2022 03:23

I'd recommend webuybooks over musicmagpie. They will pay out more

MK85 · 12/10/2022 03:25

You could also try selling as a joblot on ebay, although bare in mind you'll need to cover postage cost , plus ebay and PayPal will both take a fee

ClaryFairchild · 12/10/2022 03:34

What they offer and what they pay can be different, once they check out the quality of your DVDs. If they aren't in fantastic condition they will reduce what they offer.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/10/2022 06:32

You can probably barely give them away any more.

During lockdown when the only thing you could do was go for a walk, someone in our village put a huge bookcase of DVDs on his front wall and it sat there for months with hardly any takers.

TrashPandas · 12/10/2022 12:04

Looks like they're going to landfill. Sad I tried the avenues above and this morning looked into recycling them. There are no options except to put in my household waste bin.

I put a load of Disney Dvd on Facebook market place for £1 for 3 and got rid of all of them and made £3.

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/10/2022 22:00

I put a lot of things on our local community Facebook page with a post saying "free to collect from garden wall outside Moasty Manor (obviously not the name of our house)." Most stuff is gone in an hour or so.
