We're a bit confused.
Im employed
Dh recently opened a small vat registered business as it does have high turnover but high expenses too. He is drawing a full time wage from said business.
The business as is new doesn't have loads left each month.
We receive a small amount of UC as im still part Time

Each month dh declares the income of business and expenditure. All ok.
His accountant declares his wage. My wage is declared too so UC know our EMPLOYED income. He just submits the business income

Anyway at 1st he had to go to the job centre and take all the information showing hes a ltd company. Vat registered etc etc. Showed what he had done to advertise, set up etc.

They said hed have to go back this month to show if gainfully self employed, and hoe its going if not look for employed work.. BUT he IS employed by his company. All accounts are done by an accountant so we don't make any mistakes.

Does anyone know why he'd still have to have the meeting?

Its just being a new business then means taking time off for the meeting. Losing more income.

If he is considered gainfully self employed and in a year long start up period he would need to attend quarterly appointments at the JC to talk about how the business is progressing. Once the minimum income floor (MIF) is applied he no longer needs to attend appointments.

Ok. So its to see how its progressing. Its only been a couple of months. So whilst the business is making enough money to cove overheads, wages for him and 1 employee etc there isn't much left in the business. But its definitely looking better.
