Easy access savings that gives monthly interest?

Has anyone come across any of these lately? Will need to take all the £ out again easily in less than 6 months for a property purchase deposit (well, here's hoping!). I do have a premium bonds account too though, so maybe that would be better?

At the moment the pot is £55k, in a few weeks when our house sale completes we'll have a separate pot of £165k.

RCI bank has Freedom Savings which will pay a bit of interest (around 2% annual I think) which you can choose to be paid monthly.

CornishTiger · 30/09/2022 21:44

Make sure you split it between financial institutions though is it 70k protection. Some banks are linked to others

Marcus have an instant access account with monthly interest.

Antaboo · 30/09/2022 22:37

Zopa have monthly interest - 2.05% for 1 months notice at the mo, bit less for 7 days notice

Shawbrook is good for this and easy to change too. Monthly pays slightly less but with compound interest over time it works out better.

I have 2 savings accounts with Coventry, they both pay interest monthly and one is instant access, the other I can only take a certain number of payments in a year.

I received another email this morning, they are putting the interest rate up again.

@CornishTiger it's £85k and you get 6 months cover for temporary large balances.

It's £85k EACH, so if it's a joint account, the limit (for that financial institution) would be £170k

Is Zopa any good ?

Lysianthus · 01/10/2022 13:07

Atom is good, app based. 1.9% variable paid monthly on anniversary of account opening.

Yes I really like it. You can have different pots in the app to save for different things

I use Atom a lot; it’s very straightforward using their app and would recommend

userxx · 01/10/2022 15:08

@southeastlady Thanks for that, I'll have a look.

travellingfamily · 01/10/2022 15:10

Silly question maybe, but why do you need it paid monthly? Even if it pays annually you will still get the interest you are due when you close the account.

Santander have a new 2.75% easy access online savings account. New top savings account. They'll pull it by November so useful.

LaPufalina · 12/10/2022 17:48

Money saving expert has best accounts on their banking/saving page! I've opened a Santander one today, was approved in about an hour

So you can use the interest as you go along, I've got a holiday booked for next year and it will be going towards that.

ServerSurfer · 12/10/2022 21:19

Zopa is great. They keep upping the interest too!

I love that you can have different pots with different "lock in" lengths

TwoBlueFish · 12/10/2022 21:20

Santander easy saver 2.5% I think (just opened one yesterday)
