Universal Credit and child gone to Uni

Hi, I can't find any info online and the UC chat people are going round in circles...
Ds 18 has gone to Uni(knew this so UC needs updating)
UC says to update but...I'm told to remove him off the claim and add as a non dependant because of the bedroom tax as he's not away for more than 6 months.
Problem is..there isn't an option for living away and at uni...its either armed forces, prison or overseas.

If he's not living at home then where is he on the claim? I don't need him on the claim or expect it as he's over 18 but I do need him to be on there because of the bedroom tax.

I'm going round in circles and really struggling to sort this out. Can anyone tell me which boxes I'm clicking please?

You just put a note on your journal that he is going to university but will be living at home 60% of the year. You will need to tell them if he works during the breaks.

Isn't there an option to declare "other people who live with you' or something similar?

Students have to removed completely. They are subject to the bedroom tax because term time is more than 26 weeks per year. It sounds unfair because it is.

Your dc can apply for uc in their own right from 2nd September until university

You can claim housing/bedroom costs for:

A child away at university who plans to return home (second or third year students living in privately rented accommodation may not count)

This is from Shelter.

I did that and then git told to update and then got told I don't have to pay bedroom tax.

Thank you. UC are sending different messages. One said no bedroom tax. One said take him off the claim(which I did) and one said take him off and then put him on as a person who lives there but at uni(I've pointed out that isn't an option)

Isn't it 6 months at a time which he wouldn't be?

It's ridiculous I couldn't find any proper information about what to actually do. I filled it in on the right day so there isn't any overpayment and they're still debating what I need to do.
He isn't living at home but there isn't an option for temporarily away at Uni. It's so frustrating and making the situation so much harder. I've lost about £400 a month with removal of him(I was expecting it and I've been trying to change my job) so that and the rest of it is making me even more anxious.
