Hello, i just moved properties and my old supplier isnt available in my new area.
it me and my partner and our little one,

As such, ive had a look at my new supplier and there fixed rates and theyre offering

77.02 p/kWh 50.53 p/day for electricity
19.25 p/kWh 32.03 p/day for gas.

And asking for £224pm

Really sorry im not really knowledgable about these things, is this a good rate?

Wait until truss has announced the measures, don't tie in yet.

Ask for the variable rate tariff and then you can change with no fees whenever you want. The variable rate is covered by the price cap

BarbaraofSeville · 06/09/2022 19:46

Definitely don't do anything until the announcement from the government.

They'll put you on the current price cap, which is much lower than those rates.

However, before the new help, those rates, compared with the October price cap are a bit all over the place as the electric standing charge is very high, but the unit rate is actually a little lower.

But, the gas unit rate is very expensive and the daily standing charge is a little more than the new price cap, which might not come into force anyway. That price plan might work OK for someone who uses quite a lot of electricity and comparatively little gas.

Have a read of what Moneysaving Expert is saying and keep checking back with them before you commit to anything.
