Hi, I wasn't sure whether to put this in Health or Money, so will ask this post to be moved if I need to. My partner and I have a joint life insurance plan that covers the mortgage and a bit extra in the event of one of us dying. However, cover runs out at the end of the month, so I contacted my broker a few weeks ago to get the ball rolling.
I just had an e-mail from him saying that he can't find a company that will insure me. This is due to me having had a heart attack 3 years ago. At the time, I was in an induced coma suffering from sepsis and basically my organs started shutting down, as they do when you have sepsis! The MIA was not due to any lifestyle choice, or anything that I had any control over.
Following my release from hospital 4 months later, I was told to take an aspirin a day. No other heart meds are needed.
Now I find myself with a massive issue because if I mention that I had a heart attack at 49, the insurance company says 'computer says no!'
I have a telephone consultation next week with my GP to go over what is actually in my medical records (up until now, the insurance companies have said no without asking for any records), but would appreciate any advice on what I can do. Thanks
