I am on the brink of splitting from my partner and am trying to get prepared - financially.
I need some info to help.
I own a flat that is rented out so my partner and I rent a home together. The rent is up soon and after that I don't think we will continue to live together but I can't go back to own home.
He works and I stay at home with 11 weeks old baby and 5 year old girl. As a couple we get Working Tax credit and Child Tax Credit. I am getting Job Seekers allowance too as I do not qualify for any maternity allowance.
If we go our seperate ways I need to find out how I will survive financially.
As I understand it I will still get CTC and JSA but WTC will stop (he gets that anyway) but is there any other help I will get - not sure how I would be able to pay for accomodation. Sorry this is so long but I need to know now and no one from my local job centre is available to speak to until Wednesday.

If you don't work & are on your own with your 2 children you will get income support & child tax credits & child benefit.

You won't get any help with your rent because you own a flat so would be expected to live in that.

Don't think your get job seekers allowance either.

ScoobyDoo is right - IS, CTC, and CB. You'd be expected to live in the property you own - you may be able to get help if there's a mortgage (interest payments iirc?).

Try Entitled to for more info.

Hope it works out for you - its hard at first but is infinitely better than being in an unhappy relationship.
