Looking into DMP as a way to get control of debts. I have got to the stage where I am unable to keep up with repayments
Does anyone have any advice on taking out a dmp? It's through stepchange

When you do the budget don’t not put something on eg sanitary items for you and any dds - don’t say you have £150 left that you could pay because you don’t want to seem that you can manage. Only pay what you realistically can afford.

Yes, make sure you account for all essential expenditure and don't forget about price increases in food, fuel and utilities and also small essentials that add up like light bulbs, batteries etc.

When struggling with debt, it's very common to try and keep up with it by skimping on food etc, but the amount allowed on a DMP is actually quite generous as it's supposed to cover food other 'grocery' type spending like cleaning products, toiletries, sanitary products etc. You could probably put down £6-700 pm for these things if you are a family of 4.
