but I have just renewed online and don't seem to have been fined!

I didn't buy this car until mid Jan - and had to re-register it when I bought it, and buy a new tax disc - s foolishly I assumed the tax disc would run out mid-Jan. Just relaised it ran out at the end of Dec!!

Should I have been fined? Will a demand for payment arrive in the post? Have felt gloomy all afternoon at the tought of my carelessness and fine I could very much do without paying!

I bought my road tax very late once and the man in the post office dated the tax disc from the month when I should have renewed it - not when I did renew it iyswim. I was hoping he wouldn't notice but he was obviously more astute than that . Mind I did buy it in a 'student' area of town so he probably had loads of people trying it on . FWIW, I was fined for no road tax since I was stupid enough to plonk it on a double yellow for a few minutes. Served me right....

Btw my current tax disc is pink and is ok until the end of March - I checked this morning!!

they usually only have recent tax discs in stock at the post office - you have to send them back once they are past a certain date - worth a try though
