Increasing earnings and UC

Just wondering if anyone else has been in my position and what you did.

Work full time, single parent, live in high rent area. Currently salary around 31k and receive around £600 in UC p/m.

I really need to up my earning potential as I feel like I just about make ends meet at the end of the month after expenses. Currently work in public sector in a specific field that will never achieve top dollar but is very flexible, child friendly, I wfh, love my colleagues etc.

I was looking at moving to private sector and salaries around 45k. Ultimately with the UC taper I would be £150 better off a month when all is said and done but likely work at a much more intense level.

DD has some SEN and tbh my low level stress job is probably what has kept me sane. At the same time I want to increase my earnings and try and save plus higher salary means one day I can maybe buy a property.

Anyone else been on this cusp? I am so grateful to receive UC as I could no way afford to rent and the taper system is obviously the fair way. I'm just not sure I feel like I can take the leap to a much higher salary without the benefit of more money to take some pressure off life.

Please no benefits bashing. I work bloody hard and this is the way the system is set up.

So you will lose all or most of your UC? Will post-tax/NI earnings cover your rent and bills? Will new job require travel?
Is the change worth it given your DC's SEN and the increased stress?
