CMS: moving from deduction of earnings to direct pay

Ex was paying CMS via deduction of earnings via his salary for around 18 months.. We've just had an annual review which has shown he's earning significantly higher which means DDs maintenance will be increased. However, this will now be sent via direct pay. Ex and I have zero contact whatsoever. He sees DD at a contact centre currently as a result of domestic abuse. I'm really worried he will use this as an opportunity to mess around and not pay DDs maintenance. I also do not think he has my current bank details. Is it simply a case of me calling CMS to ask them to pass my bank details across to him and reiterate if he doesn't comply to direct pay that the arrangement will move back to deduction of earnings. Has anyone had experience of this?

CMS will act as the go between, if he doesn't pay they will instantly go for him.

I didn't think this could happen. I am in a similar situation and if they have paid via DOE consistently for 6 months they can request direct pay. It hasn't happened to me but I told them it was stupid that they could do this when there is no contact and it was set up as a DOE because he refused to comply. I was told they would ask the recipient parent first so check.

Or do you mean he has switched jobs and it being paid higher and its changed to DP on your account? This happened to me too and I called them. I was told it's because he has left his job and they don't have any HMRC details yet of where he has moved jobs to, if he has. It automatically changes to DP so they can keep trying to get payments by contacting him directly. My son's dad is a serial evader of his responsibilities so there was no way he was going to pay them directly out of the goodness of his heart so more arrears built. It took 5 months to reset up the DOE despite him moving from one job straight into another but the arrears are being collected too.

I'd just call though to put you mind at rest
