Will I need an interview for universal credit?

We have two severely disabled children we each care for 35+ hours a week so neither my husband or I have 'work commitments'. I do work nearly full time though. We also have savings of about £12k

Do you know if we would be called for an interview? We wont need a work coach but was wondering if we'd still have to have an interview to provide evidence. Will we have to provide evidence of DLA for the children or bank statements to prove savings etc?

I'm really hoping we don't as I'd have to take unpaid leave from work to attend.

Thanks!

It's unlikely as long as you passed the identification test on the on line claim.

I thought you’d need to attend one. However apply and see. If they want you in ask for a phone call one instead. Some jobcentres are doing these on Saturdays

Your claimant commitment is simple - report any changes and check your UC claim regularly
You won’t be expected to do any activities at the Jobcentre if you are working and earning more per month than someone would earn working at minimum wage for the number of hours you are expected to work. This is called your ‘earnings threshold’.

@CornishTiger there are no work commitments as they are both carers. There is no earnings threshold.

@iknowineedhelp I recently applied with similar (though not identical) circumstances - no savings for a start Grin We weren't required to go for interview or have a phone call. 2 parent carers, one working full time hours. As indicated above, our claimant committments are report changes and check journal. It was so much easier to get done that I had been led to believe by horror stories, we were also able to apply for an advance very quickly which got us out of a tight spot.

Thanks everyone. That's good to know. We've been told we get a decision on 15th August and no news of an appointment yet so fingers crossed!!

Your UC award will be reduced by £104.40 a month due to your savings. £4.35 for every £250 savings above £6k.
